In 1919, the NYSE purchased the property next door on the corner of Broad and Wall Street and began construction on the 23 story tower to compliment the original building of 1903. The new skyscraper increased the trading and office areas of the Exchange was nicknamed "The Garage". Trading in the Garage was conducted on the Western end increasing the number of trading posts to 29. The new addition also provided rooms for member and even a barber shop.

To commemorate this addition on the 130th Anniversary of the NYSE, they struck this medal in 1922. This rare 1922 Medal was designed by Augustus Lukeman. It features the NYSE Building on one side and the new addition to the right as well as an early Federalist period street scene by a buttonwood tree on the reverse. Struck by the Medallic Art Co. NY. Solid Bronze.
