This rare set was a gift from Artist Hedy Pagremanski to the Employees of the New York Stock Exchange. This artist proof is hand-signed and actually hung in the NYSE. The print also has, "Gift to the Employees of the NYSE" hand written on it. She was commission by the NYSE for this project. The piece is titled, " The Installation of Richard A. Grasso as Chairman of the NYSE, June 1, 1995." This is a painting the NYSE trading floor on June 1, 1995 at 1:30 P.M.
The people in the painting are caricatures of the individuals who actually attended the event with their badge numbers. Distinguishing features of each person can be seen. The corresponding piece is a copy of the painting with the identification of 314 people from their badge numbers. It's a "Who's Who" of the trading world with Dick Grasso being #100.
This piece is mostly likely a one-of-a-kind. This piece ultimately went on a production run of 400 prints. This is not one of those. This piece is labeled, marked, and signed as a gift from the artist to the Employees of the NYSE. It also comes with a framed and matted legend of all the individuals depicted.
The set was taken down after Richard Grasso's tenure as Chairman and was actually discarded.
Both come in nice mahogany and gold matching frames and are nicely matted.
