Description Extended Information

Public Service Company of Colorado is a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, a publicly traded corporation which consists of four operating subsidiaries; Northern States Power Minnesota, Northern States Power Wisconsin, Southwestern Public Service Co. and Public Service Company of Colorado. The company roots began in 1869 incorporated as the Denver Gas Company. The company was incorporated as Public Service Company of Colorado in 1923 and was merged with other companies in 1925. The company had made acquisitions and start up companies to diversify and to add to their existing electric and gas processes. In 1968, the company started to build a Nuclear Power Plant, but eventually failed and closed down the project in 1989.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
