This Red Lion Hotels specimen stock certificate was printed in 1995. Red Lion Hotels, Inc. (NYSE: RLH) was started in 1937 and owns, manages and leases hotels in the western half of the United States. The company was sold, merged and renamed during the period of 1959 to 1998. In 1998 an initial public offering was sold under the name Red Lion Hotels but changed its name to WestCoast Hospitality. The company changed its name to Red Lions Hotels in 2005 and in 2006 spun off the non-hotel assets to Goodale & Barbieri Company. in 2016 Red Lion acquired Vantage Hospitality Group including it's hotel brands including America's Best Value and Country Hearth Inn and Suites. In 2018 Red Lion Hotels purchased Knights Inn from Wyndham World wide.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued.
