The construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline was conceived after the oil crisis of 1973 and the passage of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Authorization Act in order to move the large quantities of oil from Alaska to the lower 48 States.  Construction of the pipeline lasted between 1973 and 1977.  This certificate represents one of America’s most daunting construction projects.  The pipeline now allows the lower 48 states access to the huge oil fields of northern Alaska.
