Description Extended Information

Sears, Roebuck and Company, the historic U.S retailer began as a mail order company where at one time you could purchase a car or even a house right out of it's catalog. Once part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Sears merged with K-Mart in 2005. Sears was originally formed in 1892 and was the United States largest retailer until 1989 when it was surpassed by Walmart.

This Sears, Roebuck and Co. Stock Certificate Mock-up includes the original stock certificate mock-up for this bond issue with notes. It is attached in it’s original folder with plastic overlay that is stamped for engraving on Sept. 22, 1989. Photo 1 is the final mock-up. Photo 2 is the stamp approving the engraving.

Added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average February 6, 1924.

Stock Certificate Mock-ups are the design and legal blue print for the stock certificate issue. These mock-ups were used to design the layout and art on the stock certificate and to assure that all the legal language was included on the certificate. Many of these are several pages with clear plastic sheets to allow for notes and directions. These also often have the vignettes and photos taped in place and some even have the original photos included separately. Stock Certificate Mock-ups were always a work in progress so they were handled often and show the wear and tear of the process.
