The Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway was formed in 1833. By 1877 the majority of the company's shares were held by Cornelius Vanderbilt and his New York Central and Hudson River Railroad. In 1914 the two railway's merged and formed the New York Central Railroad. The line is now split between CSX and Norfolk Southern. This gorgeous gold bond certificate features a the steam train and horse-drawn wagon. This Gold Bond certificate was issued in 1912-13 for $5,000 and is hand-signed. Oversized 13.5" x 9.25"
