The New 21st Century Symbol for the Bull Market has been Chosen.
International award winning artists Mark and Diane Weisbeck, the only artists in the world to represent New York in the Beijing Olympics, have recently won a Wall Street, New York commission, funded by an executive of Credit Suisse, an avid art collector. The Weisbecks were chosen to re-design and modernize Wall Street's Bull Market image, as the old bull and bear are 18th century icons that no one seems to remember the original meanings of any more. "The image of the blasting off rocket leaves the old, archaic bull and bear in the dust!" states artist Mark Weisbeck. "As Wall Street emerges reborn, so too must the icons and images of Wall Street. What could be more dramatic, more positive and more up-trending than a rocket blasting off?" elaborates Diane Weisbeck. "Besides clearly symbolizing the New Bull Market, it represents a positive belief in Wall Street."
The desktop replica of the original 13 foot tall rocket is 14 inches high and is constructed of textured and dyed stainless steel. With its distinctive metallic blue rocket with gold fins, the swirling, voluminous plumes of the rocket give the impression of "blasting off." Each sculpture is handcrafted by the artists, signed and numbered. A natural hardwood cherry base accompanies each sculpture. About the Artists
The Weisbecks have won many international sculpture awards. They were the only artists in the world to represent New York in the Beijing China Olympics Sculpture Competition, winning the prestigious “Excellent Works” award. This was the first time that art was an official category of competition in the history of the Olympic Games. Mark and Diane were two of only eight Americans invited to participate.
In July, 2008 they unveiled a 32 foot tall waterfront sculpture in Rochester, New York, USA. “Water Spirits,” is the gateway sculpture to the city of Rochester and was commissioned by the New York State Department of State. It is 2 and ½ tons of brass and was hand patinaed in “Statue of Liberty” green.
In 2004 the Weisbecks won a commission to create twelve light sculptures for the New York State Department of Transportation, which were placed on the pylons of three consecutive new bridges in Rochester, New York, USA.
A winner of the Changchun, China International Sculpture Competition, in 2000, the Weisbeck's “Expanding Influence of Peace” is a 30 foot tall sculpture which stands in the large Chinese city's sculpture park.
