The Union Pacific Railroad Company was founded in 1862 under the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862. The company was formed to build the transcontinental railroad starting from Council Bluffs Iowa. The Union Pacific built westward while the Central Pacific Railroad Company built eastward from Sacramento California. Today the company is a freight railroad operating west of Chicago and New Orleans. This beautifully colored orange certificate issued 1970's - 1980’s by the largest railroad network in the United States. This is must have for any railroad or American history enthusiast.
