This receipt was given to Tithothy Judd, a citizen of Waterbury, for 8 blankets for the service of the Continental Army Soldiers of Connecticut. Receipts like this were given out by Army leadership when then procured items of need from the community.

It is signed by Liet Andrews in Capt David Smiths compnay in Colonel John Chandlars Regiment in the Continental Army.

Colonel Heman Swift commanded the 7th Connecticut Regiment in the Connecticut Line in the Continental Army. He became a Brigadier-General in 1783 and became an Associate Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. He was known as personal friend of General George Washington.
