The Baltimore and Ohio B&O Railroad is the oldest railroads in the United States was also made famous in the classic Monopoly board game. Founded in 1827 the first section opened in 1830 making it the first common carrier in the U.S.. This rare B&O stock certificate was issued in 1856 and is hand-signed by president Thomas Swann.

The vignette features a very early rudementary stream engine with a single operator pulling passengers and cargo. Rare piece.
