Description

Otis & Co was a small brokerage house that was purchased by E.A. Piece & Co after the stock market crash of 1929. Pierce also acquired the brokerage business of Merrill Lynch in 1930 to become the largest wire house in the United States. E.A. Pierce came into financial hardship in the 30s and partnered with Charles E. Merrill and formed Merrill Lynch, E.A. Pierce & Cassatt in 1940.

At the time, Fenner & Beane was the second largest brokerage and their competition. The firms would merge and form Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Beane. So here is a great story of how a little Wall Street Brokerage, Otis & Co, would become part of one of the largest financial conglomerates in the world.

This un-used report was for use on the NYSE and the Curb exchange in the 1920s by Otis & Co. We believe these reports were used to summarize the days trading volumes (Recapitulation of Number of Shares) on the NYSE, Curb Exchange and Trading Dept. It also has an office line for N.Y., Cleve., Denver, Wick., and K.B. The bottom also has a space for "Grain". Each slip has a water mark that can be viewed when held to the light. "Cambrai Bond U.S.A Keith Quality".

This rare piece is presented in a gorgeous high quality acrylic display that weights over 3 lbs. Magnetically held together, the display is easy to open if want to inspect your item. Perfect for a desktop or bookshelf display.
