This Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Company Gold Bond was issued in 1889 and was due in 1894. The note is hand signed and still has all but one of its coupons still attached. Very nice hard-to-find note.

Founded in 1859, the Railroad Company added Santa Fe to the name in 1863. The railroad played a large part in the development of the west, reaching into the frontier and hauling cattle driven to Dodge City on Cattle drives. The railroad also was part of the Royal Gorge Railroad War where the company was involved in a two year armed conflict with the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. During the Royal Gorge War the railroad employed both Doc Holliday and Bat Masterson. The railroad merged with Burlington Northern in 1996 forming the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway.
