Description

This is a rare cast iron Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad sign from The First National Bank of Chicago. These signed were used by The First National Bank of Chicago when they secured the right to use either equipment, railroad lines, or other assets of the rail company.

The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Company started in 1847 as the Rock Island and La Salle Railroad but was changed to the Chicago and Rock Island Railroad in 1851. The railway stretched from Minneapolis MN in the north, Galveston TX in the south, Denver CO in the West, and Chicago IL in the east.

The solid cast iron sign measures 18.5" long by 4 1/8". Solid metal sign was used and shows some weathering and oxidation. The back has the number 59989 on it.. Great piece of First National Bank of Chicago and Railroad memorabilia.

Two bolt holes on the sides make it an easy sign to hang for display.

The sign reads,
"CHICAGO, ROCK ISLAND AND PACIFIC RAILROAD
EQUIPMENT TRUST, SERIES O
THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF CHICAGO,
TRUSTEE, OWNER, LESSOR."
