Description Extended Information

The Chicago and South Western Railway was originally formed as the Platte City and Fort Des Moines Railroad in 1864.  Fort Des Moines was a major Union Military base during the Civil War, thus the Union Soldier vignette.  It changed it's name several times becoming the Chicago and South Western Railroad in 1869.  The railroad eventually became part of the Chicago Rock Island Railroad.  Unissued share from the 1800s.  Vignette features a traveling steam engine as well as a Union Soldier on the lower left holding the American Flag and his rifle.
