This rare coin was issued by Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith New Orleans in the the 1960s. The back says "The Interest Of Our Customers Must Come First". Rare find. Made from a lightweight metal it is 1.5" in diameter.
Merrill Lynch was founded in 1914 by Charles Merrill, when Edmund Lynch joined the company just a year later the name was changed to Merrill Lynch and Company. After several mergers the name eventually became Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, & Smith in 1958. Merrill Lynch was bought by Bank of America in 2009 as a result of the 2008 financial crisis but some of the devisions kept the Merrill Lynch name including Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and the Broker Dealer Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith
