Founded in 1891 with construction completed in 1895, The Philadelphia Bourse was the first commodities exchange in the United States.  When George E. Bartol organized the Bourse each member was required to pledge $1,000.00 to the project.  The motto of the Philadelphia Bourse was "Buy,Sell, and Ship via Philadelphia".  The Bourse ceased functioning as a commodities exchange in the 1960's.  Issued 1898 and cancelled 1899.  Hand signed with stamps from the Bourse on the top right.
