This rare stock certificate form the Pullman's Palace Car Company was issued in 1870 and is signed by President and founder George Pullman. Founded in 1867, George Pullman developed the first sleeping railroad car featuring carpeting, upholstered chairs and draperies and even included libraries and card tables to elevate the customer experience. The Pullman Car was a household name back in the day.

In 1880, he founded the the town of Pullman, Illinois which is now part of Chicago. A violent strike, known as the Pullman, strike, erupted in 1894 when the Pullman Palace Car Company lowered wages without reducing rents in the two where workers lived.
