Description

The QuoTrek was released in 1984 and monitors the prices of over 7,000 stocks and commodities and was considered the first portable financial quotation monitor. It was made by Dataspeed Inc. out of Burlingame, CA. The QuoTrek has a rechargeable battery and worked off of a local FM radio signal. It retailed for $495.

These were mostly used by speculators and market professionals. It allowed them to track prices without having to call a broker. They were considered high tech, delivering 4800 bits per second compared to a teletype machine at 60 bits and a home computer at 1200 bits per second at the time. The liquid-crystal display could display 40 characters at a time. It display the stocks last price with an up or down symbol, the high and low as well as the previous day's close and volume. It can be programmed for up to 40 quotes.

These obviously no longer work as they are old technology. These make great bookshelf conversation pieces or display pieces for your Stock Market Man Cave.
