This Sovran Self Storage specimen stock certificate was printed in 1995. Originally formed in 1982 as a Financial Planning Firm in Buffalo NY, Sovran bought LifeStorage LP in 2016 and rebranded itself as LifeStorage. The company now operates as a Real Estate Investment Trust and operates approx. 750 self storage locations throughout the U.S. The REIT trades on the NYSE under the symbol LSI.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued.
