Western Union was formed in 1856 with the merger of the New York and Mississippi Valley Printing Telegraph Company and the New York and Western Union Telegraph Company. By 1861 Western Union had established the first transcontinental telegraph. Western Union introduced the first stock ticker machine in 1866 and it's money transfer service in 1871. This historic Stock Certificate was issued the 1970s.
