The Whirlpool Corporation was founded in 1911 as the Upton Machine Company manufacturing clothes washing machines. Their fortunes where made when landed Sears, Roebuck as a customer in 1916 and they eventually became their sole supplier. They introduced the Kenmore Brand in 1947 and a year later it was sold under the name Whirlpool.
