Description

This rare train transfer ticket was issued to Clarence W. Barron on January 15, 1887. He traveled via first class on the Central Vermont Railroad from St. Johns to Boston . Clarence W. Barron is largely considered the founder of modern financial journalism and was one of the most influential figures of Dow Jones & Company, the Wall Street Journal and Barron's Magazine.

Barron purchased Dow Jones & Company in 1903 after the death of founder Charles Dow. He was president until his death in 1928 and also controlled the Wall Street Journal and founded Barron's Magazine. All of these are still in circulation today.

Barron's connections throughout Wall Street were legendary and included icons such as Charles Schwab. His reporting also led to the arrest and conviction of Charles Ponzi, the inventor of the Ponzi Scheme.
