1922 New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Medallion – Solid Bronze, August (Lukeman) Design

Celebrate historic Wall Street with this 1922 New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) medallion made from solid bronze. Designed by Augustus Lukeman, this scarce commemorative medal marks the NYSE’s 130th anniversary and the opening of the new Broad Street “Garage” expansion.

Commemorating the NYSE “Garage” Expansion (1919–1922)

In 1919, the NYSE purchased the adjacent property at the corner of Broad and Wall Street. Construction followed on a 23-story tower built to complement the original 1903 Exchange building. This new addition expanded both trading and office space and became affectionately known as “The Garage.”

  • Trading in the Garage was conducted on the Western end, increasing trading posts to 29
  • Additional rooms were included for members, and even featured a barber shop

Augustus Lukeman Design by Medallic Art Co.

This collectible NYSE medallion features period-accurate craftsmanship by the Medallic Art Co. of New York. The design highlights the NYSE building complex:

  • Obverse: a Federalist-era street scene under a buttonwood tree
  • Reverse: the NYSE Building and the Broad Street addition (the “Garage”)
