Description

This rare Beech Aircraft $10,000 Specimen Convertible Note Certificate was from 1968 and due in 1993 and paid 4 3/4% interest. The vignette features two men and one is holding an airplane propeller with aircraft flying in the background. The printed signature of one of the founders, Olive Ann Beech as Chairman of the Board is on the lower right.

The Beech Aircraft Company was formed in 1932 in Wichita Kansas by Walter and Olive Ann Beech. Their first designed plane, the Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing took flight in 1932 which where later supplied to the USAF during WW II. Olive Ann Beech took over as CEO in 1950 after the sudden death of her husband, Walter. She served as CEO until the eventual sale to the Raytheon Company in 1980.

Beechcraft Aircraft was considered one of the "Big Three" in aviation manufacturing and was one of the most influential aviation companies of its time.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
