This Dome Mines Limited stock certificate was issued in 1951. Dome Mines Limited was incorporated in Canada in 1910 and emerged from the Dome Mining Company to become one of Canada’s early major gold producers. Driven by the development of the flagship Dome Mine in the Timmins, Ontario area, the company rapidly expanded its operations and helped establish Timmins as a leading gold camp through the mid-20th century. Over the decades, Dome Mines pursued growth via development and acquisitions and, like many Canadian mining firms, underwent corporate consolidations as the industry consolidated in the latter part of the century.
