This Energy Ventures, Inc. Specimen Stock Certificate was printed in 1994. Energy Ventures, Inc. (EVI) was based out of Dallas, Texas and was an oil equipment and services company. In 1998 they merged with Weatherford Enterra, Inc. to form the world's fourth largest oilfield services company. EVI was one of the leading manufacturing companies that provided services and and equipment to the exploration and production sector. After the merger, the company was called EVI Weatherford. They eventually dropped the EVI in the name to become Weatherford.

Features the printed signature of Bernard Duroc-Danner who would become the President and CEO of the combined company. Weatherford is now based out of Houston, Tx and is an S&P 400 component.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
