Description Extended Information

This Hewlett-Packard Specimen Stock Certificate is a rare find and feature Carly Fiorina as President. It remains uncropped on its edges. Based out of Palo Alto, California the Hewlett - Packard Company (HP) was founded in a one-car garage by Bill Hewlett and David Packard as well as Mike Limon in 1939. This Hewlett Packard Company Specimen Stock certificate was printed from 1999-2005 during Carly Fiorina's tenure.

Fiorina was the first woman to lead a Fortune Top-20 Company and led the largest tech merger in history at the time as they acquired Compaq. The merger made HP the largest seller of personal computers. Fiorina later entered into politics serving as an advisor to John McCain during the 2008 election. She won the Republican nomination in California for the Senate but lost the general election. She was also the running mate of Ted Cruz in the 2016 primary.

HP was added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average November 1, 1999.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
