This International Mercantile Marine Stock Certificate was issued to and signed by Shipping Barron Edgar F. Luckenbach. Luckenbach owned the Luckenbach Steamship Company (Luckenbach Lines) and the Luckenbach Terminal Company. The Luckenbach Steamship Company was one of the most successful shipping companies in the U.S. lasting from it founding in 1850 until 1974. This stock certificate was issued in 1920 and was issued to Edgar F. Luckenbach and features his signature on the back.

International Mercantile Marine was a trust formed by J.P. Morgan in an attempt to monopolize the shipping trade. Included in International Mercantile Marine was White Star Lines which was the owner of the Titanic. The company went into receivership in 1915 and eventually emerged as United States Lines.
