This hand-colored old map of Wisconsin and Michigan was published by A.J. Johnson and Benjamin Ward. The map is from Johnson's New Illustrated (Steel Plate) Family Atlas and features many Native American Territories, forts, and railroads as well as nice depictions of Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Superior.

A.J. Johnson was a prominent map maker in the United States in the 19th Century. He worked along side Colton in his early days before branching out on his own. His first major publication was Johnson's New Illustrated (Steel Plate) Family Atlas.
