A,J, Johnson was a prominent map maker in the United States in the 19th Century. He worked along side Colton in his early days before branching out on his own. His first major publication was Johnson's New Illustrated (Steel Plate) Family Atlas. He partnered with Ward in 1864 to publish their first Atlas.
