This Magma Copper Company stock certificate was issued in 1927 and is hand signed. The Magma mine was originally known as the Silver Queen Mine near Superior, Arizona. It started out as a silver mine but became a huge producer of copper and was renamed the Magma Copper Company in 1910 by William Boyce Thomas who bought the rights to the mine. The might would become one the largest producing copper mines in the U.S. They were purchased by BHP Billiton, the world's largest mining company at the time.
