National Tea was founded in 1899 in Chicago IL. It grew to an amazing 1,000 retail stores by the end of the 1920's and was one of the largest Grocery Chains in the U.S. for most of the 1900's. National Tea changed it's name to National Supermarkets and eventually became part of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company or A&P in the 1970's. A&P sold the chain to Rouse Market in 2007. This certificate was issued in 1934 to Harris Upham & Co and is hand signed.
