This scarce Natomas Company stock certificate was issued to Dean Witter in 1956. The Natomas Company's history dates back to 1906 when Robert Hanford founded the Natomas Development Company and also purchased the Natomas Vineyard Company in California. They ran dredging, mining, and gravel crushing operations looking for gold. They would change their name to the Natomas Company of California during WWII after missing some bond payments. Then on November 13th, 1928 they reorganized as the Natomas Company. The Diamond Shamrock Corp purchased Natomas in the 1980s and the name was discontinued.
