Peel-Elder Limited was founded in 1959 when Elder Mines & Development purchased Peel Village Developments. Elder Mines owned a gold mine, Eldrich Mines, Jean Lake Lithium Mines, and Pump Metal Corp of Canada. The merger with Peel Village expanded their operation into commercial and residential real-estate developments including one of Toronto's earliest indoor shopping malls, Shoppers World Danforth.
