This rare Rocky Mountain National Bank of Central City, Colorado Check was issued to early Colorado pioneer James Kidd in 1869 and is hand-signed by Warren Richardson for the large sum of $1650. Issued pre-statehood (1876).

James Kidd and his wife Caroline settled in Central City, Colorado in 1860 traveling via a team of oxen. They operated a bakery and later moved to a ranch near Morrison. "Mrs. Kidd cross the plains nine times and experienced many thrilling adventure with the Indians. After a period of about 15 years on the ranch, Mr Kidd sold out and removed to Denver where Mrs. Kidd died, and Mr. Kidd married again."
