Etcher, painter, and architect Anton Schutz (born 1894, Germany) created evocative urban landscapes and city-scapes. Schutz studied mechanical engineering and architecture at the University of Munich before turning to art at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. After moving to the United States in 1924, he collaborated with Joseph Pennell and contributed etchings to major publications, including The New York Times and The New York Herald Tribune. Schutz’s work is represented in numerous museum collections, including the Library of Congress and The Art Institute of Chicago.
