This Sandburg Petroleum Company Stock Certificate was issued in 1924 and is hand signed by the company president. Sandburg Petroleum was incorporated in California in 1921. Sandburg hit a huge oil deposit in Signal Hill by Long Beach. People flocked to invest in Sandburg Petroleum and within 48 hours they sold in today's money $1.6 million in stock. They could barely keep up with sales. They were the second producing well in Signal Hill behind Shell's discovery.
