This Spiegel, Inc. $10,000 Bond Certificate was issued in 1976. Spiegel dates back to 1865 when Joseph Spiegel opened his first store in Chicago's Loop which was burned down in the Chicago Fire in 1871. He rebuilt and with some success moved to a bigger store on State Street. They introduced catalog shopping and expanded through the years and sold to Otto-Versand GmbH in 1982.
