This Springfield Gas Light Company stock certificate was from 1927 and is hand signed by the company president. Springfield, Massachusetts. They were founded in 1847 and lighted the streets of Springfield and later provided gas to heat buildings. In 1974 they merged with a few other companies to form the Bay State Gas Company.
