This B.F. Goodrich Company Specimen Stock Certificate was printed by the American Banknote Company for one of America’s largest tire and rubber manufacturing companies.

B.F. Goodrich was founded in Akron OH in 1870 as a rubber company. It was added to the Dow Jones in 1916. Although Famous for it's tires, it also produced aircraft end engine components. The company was sold off in pieces with it's exit from the tire business in 1988 when it sold to Michelin.

Added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average October 4, 1916.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company's stock issue. Specimens can be identified by their "specimen" stamp, stamped holes spelling "specimen" or they are often issed with a serial number of zeros.
