It was the only Railroad on the board that did not service Atlantic City which the original Monopoly places were named after. The B&O Railroad Company
The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O) was established in 1827 as one of the earliest railroads in the United States, with the goal of connecting Baltimore, Maryland, to the Ohio River and facilitating westward expansion and commerce. It played a significant role in the development of the American transportation industry, pioneering many technological innovations in railroading. Over the years, the B&O expanded its network across the Midwest and South, becoming a major freight and passenger carrier. The railroad was also instrumental in shaping regional economies and urban growth, and it eventually became part of the Chessie System and later CSX Transportation, maintaining its legacy as a key player in American rail history.
