This The Connecting Railway Company $1000 Bond Certificate was issued in 1951 and is hand-signed. The Connecting Railway was a subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Railroad formed to build a connecting line between the Philadelphia & Trenton Railroad and the Pennsylvania Railroad in Philadelphia. Attempts to extend the line into Philadelphia let to riots as they planned to demolish buildings. They were forced to end the line in Kensington. The Connecting Railway was incorporated in 1863 to resolve this with a 6.75 mile line between Frankford Junction and Mantua Junction passing through Philly.
