This Five Fingers Coal Company $100 Gold Bearer Bond was issued in 1916 and is hand signed. Some coupons still attached. The Five Fingers Coal Company was based out of St. Paul, MN. In the 1880s, a large seam of coal was discovered in the Canadian Yukon on the right hand bank of the Yukon River just below Five Fingers Rapids. The Five Fingers Coal Company was formed in the early 1900s to mine this coal deposit. The coal from the original mine was used to refuel sternwheelers and heating homes. A tramway moved coal from the the mine shafts to steamer parked at a wharf.
