This Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway Company Bond was issued to Marline E. Olmsted in 1911. Olmsted was elected to the 55th Congress and served in the next seven congress's as the Republican representative the 18th district of Pennsylvania. He had served on the House Committee on Elections, Insular Affairs and served as the on of the managers of the House of Representatives that conducted impeachment hearing against judge Charles Swayne of Florida.

The Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway was formed in 1833. By 1877 the majority of the company's shares were held by Cornelius Vanderbilt and his New York Central and Hudson River Railroad. In 1914 the two railway's merged and formed the New York Central Railroad. The line is now split between CSX and Norfolk Southern. This gorgeous gold bond certificate features a the steam train and horse-drawn wagon. This Gold Bond certificate was issued in 1911 Marlin E. Olmsted (not signed) for $10,000. Oversized 13.5" x 9.25"
