Originally formed in 1853 with the combining of approximately 10 independent companies, The New York Central Railroad operated some of the first permanent rail tracks in the state of New York. This historic certificate was issued in the 1930s by the company that held the first permanent railroad in the state of New York. Features Cornelius Vanderbilt in the vignette.

The New York Central Railroad was one of the original members of the Dow Jones Industrial Average added July 3, 1884.
