This The New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Co $1000 Gold Bond was issued in the 1920s - 40s and is hand signed. The vignette features Cornelius Vanderbilt II, the favorite Grandson of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt and the heir to the Vanderbilt Empire after the death of his father William Henry Vanderbilt. The Hudson River Railroad was formed in 1845. In 1864 the railroad was bought by Cornelius Vanderbilt. In 1869 Vanderbilt merged the New York Central with the Hudson River Railroad to form the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad.
