This Peoria and Eastern Railway Company Stock Certificate was issued in 1901 and is hand signed by the company president. Founded on Feb. 21, 1890, the Railway company was formed to purchase the Ohio, Indiana and Western Railway. They purchased this railway the next day and on the same day sold the railway to the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis. The Peoria and Eastern Railway company stood on it's own for just 1 day.
