This United Corporation stock certificate was issued to Bear Stearns & Co in 1937 which was sold to JP Morgan in 2008. The United Corporation was formed in 1928 as a utilities holding company for J.P. Morgan and Drexel & Co for the purpose of purchasing smaller utilities companies. Some of their purchases included Columbia Gas & Electric Co, United Gas Improvement Corporation, Public Service Corporation of NJ, and the Niagara Hudson Power Company.
