This Thiokol Chemical Corporation stock certificate was issued in the 1960s making it over 40 years old.  Founded in 1929 as a rubber company, when the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena California discovered that it's products made great stabilizer for rocket fuel, Thiokol changed it's business.  In 1949 Thiokol produced the TX-18 Falcon Missile, the world's first solid fueled missile system.  Thiokol would go on to produce rocket systems for both NASA and the U.S. Military.  In 1982 the company merged with Morton-Norwich forming Morton Thiokol (MTI).  It was an MTI O-ring that failed during the 1986 Space shuttle Challenger disaster.  In 2001 MTI was bought by Alliant Techsystems and eventually Orbital ATK and Northrup Grumman.
